Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It tells the story of Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film stars Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow, and Rileah Vanderbilt in the role of Misty.



Its practical special effects are the film's biggest strength. Hatchet 3 uses a lot less CG effects than other horror films. This allows for some truly frightening moments to be captured in the movie.

The cast is solid and the lead actor Kane Hodder proving to be an intimidating villain. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher film. It is witty and funny enough. There are also some really (blog) funny moments that provide a sense of some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.

Due to the budget being $1 million, most places were reused from previous films. The house on the lake that was used twice in the movie was a prime example. Much of this appears to be a re-use from other films in the franchise. It can seem like it's all too familiar especially for people who've watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, I enjoyed Hatchet 3 even though it felt very similar to prior installments in the series. It also offered lots of bloody thrills as well as entertaining performances from the actors.
